Seiquill Anatomy

Description

The first part of a very lengthy project! For more information, read my journal entry here on the Seiquill Project: [link]

Here is the anatomy page for the new book. In case you're curious, here is the page that it's based off of: [link]

You may also notice that the spelling for "Sequill" is different! I'm changing many parts of the original, and decided the new spelling was necessary for clarification on the pronunciation. It's pronounced "SAY-quill," not "SEE-quill".

While redoing the anatomy, I tried to incorporate realistic anatomy, looking at such real-life examples as Archeopteryx and the ostrich.

The seiquill is VERY hind-heavy. Whereas most birds are keel-heavy, the majority of of the seiquill's mass is in its massive legs and tail. Most of its neck is feathers.

This illustration was done in ink with a G-nib on bristol, with minimal background color and the text done digitally. Since all the art itself was done with pen and ink, I'm putting this under traditional art.
