Something a bit different. An assignment for an illustration class, to illustrate a story by Poe. I wanted to get the cold, clammy feeling of despair he captures so well in his writing while using this new technique. Acrylic and gouache on gessoed Masonite, 10X13 inches.

Thanks! I used a brush while the gesso was still wet to give it texture.

I was wondering if I should even put it up here, but then I thought, "I don't want people thinking all I can do are pretty birdies and bright colors." Plus I figured there were a few horror fans that may appreciate some dark imagery. :D

That is amazing :O I loved that story; it sent chills up my spine when I first read it.

You definitely captured the creepy factor. The textures are amazing :nod:

I love the dark feel of the painting. The eye is so mesmerizing. Very nice.
