And rolling clouds that paint the sky.

Beautiful!

I've heard it's pretty hard to do feather paintings, and putting in so much detail is a whole other story :)

I assume that the pain holds the feathers together.

Partially, but the two feathers are held together with bookbinding glue. Then the thin layers of paint 'glue' the vane of the feathers together.

Incredibly wonderful ! I love how the two feathers seem to create a mouth with a tongue (a little bit like the Rolling Stones' by the way xD).

[...] and the draw from the sky to the stone on which the griffin stands makes the tongue ! (forgot words. ><)

Hmm, maybe I'm weird you know. xD The upper border of the two feathers makes the lip, and the draw from the sky to the stone on which the griffin stands. And the black of the feathers at the bottom, I don't know ... Maybe a beard ? xD *runs away*

Lovely, Brenda.

Do you apply gesso to the feathers before beginning the painting? It seems the answer is most likely yes; but I thought I'd verify that.

Nope, no gesso. I spray it with workable fixative, and then paint in very thin layers of paint.

I figured on the thin paint layers. I doubt I'll ever get the opportunity to try this; it is, however, always a good idea to ask "how?" Thank you.

Oh, she's lovely!

The way the secondaries lie on the right wing, though, seems a bit off to me.

Oh! Looking at the close wing (the bird's right), I saw that where the under-primary coverts covered the primaries was a bit odd (with the shadows). I've gone and fixed that. :) Thanks for spotting that!
