Leather Feather Bracelets by windfalcon Leather Feather Bracelets by windfalcon
EDIT: I'm reuploading this because I completely redid the strap on the goshawk one. I really didn't like how sloppy the simple strap looked, so I spent several hours last night teaching myself how to braid strap and do terminal knots. Terminal knots are a pain in the butt to learn! But very worth it :D Now that I'm happy with the strap, I'm making it available.

I couldn't resist making more leather feather bracelets! Some of these I made specifically for the RAWards show yesterday. I have a couple others, which I ran out of time to photograph, so for now these are the ones I'm uploading. :)

Clockwise from top left: Barn Owl, Magpie tail, Northern Goshawk tail, and Blue Jay. The goshawk has a leather cuff, and the blue jay has a sterling silver chain :0 I'm trying to use more non-allergic materials, such as leather cuffs and sterling. Sterling is more expensive, but so pretty :)

Three of these are available in my Etsy shop!

Barn Owl: [link] SOLD
Magpie: [link] SOLD
Blue Jay: [link] SOLD

Oh and the thing you published on facebook today about free shipping on etsy, is there a way for getting it? Like, you put it on etsy and I buy it throught there? If it's too much trouble, it's ok ^^'
And I'll talk with my mom to see things better then :D

Oh! Yes, as long as you order by December 15th, you get free shipping :3 (actually, as long as you tell me what you want before then, you'll still get free shipping even if it's after the 15th, since it's a custom order). I'll post it as reserved for you, and will have shipping as $0.

Oh good! ^^ So what do you need to make the order reserved for me? (I'm not very used to etsy)
And how long you take to make it? Just an idea, nothing exact :)

Your leather feathers are so amazing! :) You've inspired me to start making leather feathers myself, but they are surely not as good as yours. :)

I don't understand the question  The title of the piece is 'leather feather bracelets', which also appears on the image itself. :3

Is the magpie actually iridescent, or painted to look iridescent?

I used iridescent paint so it does shimmer a bit :)

A lot of companies have started making silver-y chains out of stainless steel for hypoallergenic chains, especially since the price of silver has gone waaaaaaay up. While it does contain some nickel, in my experience (well, my mom's experience, she has nickel allergies but is totally nuts for jewelry) stainless steel doesn't cause any rashes or whatnot.

I have no idea where you're buying your jewelry findings, but again, since silver is getting so bloody expensive, I wouldn't be surprised if you can easily find the kind of findings you need. 8)

I'll have to look into stainless steel chain. It's certainly the nickel content that gives me a reaction. The silvertone chains in these (with the exception of the blue jay, which is sterling) are all silver-plated base metal, which is okay as long as it doesn't wear away.

I bought 60 inches of sterling chain the other day and it was crazy how expensive it is D: I want to use sterling, but I also don't want to have to charge an arm and a leg for these bracelets.
