This was a commission for an arm guard in the same style as my Oak Falcon arm guard, but with a golden eagle. I'm trying to practice dyeing with fewer colors and figuring out which colors to put side by side for good contrast. It's tough because unlike paint, you can't really mix colors to get just the right color! And the more layers you put on, the darker it gets.

Hand-tooled 7-oz leather. The only paint that's on it is on the green leaves and slight gold accents on the dots and neck feathers.

This one's even more amazing for me, as it has my favourite bird on it! Brilliant work, I should think you have one very happy customer! :)

I tried to find a little info, I think less colors would be good to experiment with for a more classic look but Tandy leatherfactory mostly mentions the Eco-Flo they sell but I see there are some youtube tutorials coming up too so maybe that would help... I am not experienced with leather but the workmanship impresses/interests me. (2D artists at this point but I keep wanting to try soooo many things!)

I wouldn't know what to point you to though ^^;
uhmmmmmm at any rate, I love seeing artists that are showing their other works, people I've watched the work of for years developing new skills from costuming to carving and sculpture. Don't be discouraged about getting less replies, your followers come from that "background" and "expect" a certain style and such and that has no bearing on your work :)

I just watched that video - I really like the idea that you can mix colors! Definitely going to have to try it out :D

Thanks! I currently use a few of the Eco-Flo dyes and some Fiebings dyes. I've heard of the waterstains but haven't tried them yet - maybe I'll have to pick up a few :)
