Three figures stand before a cracked vision and acknowledge an identity based in the simplest of elements.

The sun
The moon
The wind and forest.
A kingdom of clouds and their gift of rain

And yet they seek simple grains of sand buried beneath piles of gaudy jewels. All they want is to feel the earth again.

----

A painting that turned into a sort of metaphorical self-portrait. I listened to a lot of Delerium and Made of Glass by ATB was on repeat for quite a while.

Watercolor and a small bit of colored pencil on Arches cold press watercolor paper, 9X12 inches

This is so beautiful!
I mean, all your gallery is stunning but I simply adore the girl among the falcons. She is so gentle and wild at the same time. I LOVE IT!

Indeed :D They're meant to be more spiritual than realistic. Thanks!

Wow... very surreal, very powerful.

Metaphorically, I love what's happening here. We are so caught up in superficial and artificial beauty, we lose what is naturally beautiful.

Artistically, a few things stand out to me that are completely awesome. First, because I envy them, I like the headfeathers on your falcon. The fact that it's blue just makes it splendid anyhow. :) I also like how your hair flows into and becomes the falcon's feathers. Finally, I admire the depth of the falcon eye. I had to look, then look again to make sure it wasn't real. ;)

Keep it up!

Thank you! I've rarely had luck with self-portraits, particularly the literal ones where I'm trying to show my actual face. It always ends up distorted in a way and I don't really like drawing myself, since if it looks inaccurate at all it really bothers me. I'm glad this one works. :D

Youre very welcome hun<3

Hmmm...they can be challenging,do you just do it from your head or use a mirror perse?
Ahhhh i see, well i believe you got this one really down, granted, you can even feel that in some ways you were satisfied with how you came out as well,Excellent job!:)

I've done it both ways - using a mirror and also with a photo. I don't know, I swear I have 'anatomy blindness' regardless of how much I practice and study, I just can't 'see' anatomy properly. :(

But this self-portrait is different since I wasn't trying to capture my physical appearance, but rather a spiritual/emotional one. :) So it was quite relaxing and I didn't have to worry about "oh god is the nose right? I think the mouth is too narrow..."

Awwww well like i always say, practice makes perfect C:
But it takes time,im still taking life drawing classes *chuckles*

Hmm...its more spiritual if id say,and you can tell its really relaxing!Almost like doing this took stress off your shoulders C: I believe its the colors and expressions that are involved that give it that vibe :D
Ohh...maybe a little,but i think its still perfect as is <3
