Birdflowers: Poinsettia - Dec.

The birdflower for December, Poinsettia. Firstly, finding the primary birthflower and birth stone for December proved to be extremely tricky. Every source I researched claimed it to be either poinsettia, paperwhite narcissus, or holly (which isn't exactly a flower). So, I decided to combine them all, not only for the reason of not knowing which was December's 'actual' birth flower, but also for the beauty that poinsettia, holly, and paperwhite narcissus create together.

Originally I was going to name it after the paperwhite narcissus, but I figured naming the bird "Narcissus" would have some undesirable connotations. The birdies know they're beautiful, but I don't want the poor December bird drowning in a pool after trying to kiss its own reflection!

The eye and tailstones (which, for the first time, aren't visible!) are blue topaz. Both blue topaz and turquoise are listed as birth stones for December, so no complaining.

It looks to me like Poinsettia is doing a bit of gardening in the snow. Or perhaps this is its version of flower arranging. Perhaps it's saying, "now just a bit of holly here..."

Oh, and the white birch trees are there because I like birches. No other reason.
