The birdflower for January, Carnation. Carnations are deceptively hard to paint, primarily because they always seem to want to look like roses.

Carnation's eyes and tailstones are garnet, like January's birth stone. I suppose that carnation in its beak is a garnet-colored variety. Carnation's feathers are shades of pink, red, violet, white, and yellow, just like the flower of its namesake.

I really love the texture and color of the covert wing feathers-they look a lot like petals
wonderful work love the gems on the end of the birds tail, love the use of red color's on the bird it's self, love the blue clouds in the background gives the feel your really flying with the bird and the flowers looks so amazing.
