Description

Here is my 2008 calendar, featuring my Birdflowers.

My original plan when I started this project back in March of 2007 was to have all 12 months completed by late November so that it would be available as a calendar. Little did I know that the time taken by a summer job, and then graduate school would make working on the paintings extremely difficult.

However, I was able to complete them, if not on time then only a little late. Early January is not too late for calendars. :D

Birdflowers, for those of you who are unfamiliar, are pretty birds whose plumage is just as vibrant as the birthflower of the months they represent. Their eyes and the stones on their tails are made of the month's birth stone. Each birdflower is the physical embodiment of the beauty of their month.
The Birdflowers are as follows:

January: Carnation
February: Iris
March: Daffodil
April: Daisy
May: Lily
June: Rose
July: Larkspur
August: Gladiolus
September: Aster
October: Calendula
November: Chrysanthemum
December: Poinsettia

Each month features its respective birdflower, with the birdflower's name on the image.

IMPORTANT: If you wish to purchase a calendar, please CONTACT ME DIRECTLY. For the first batch of calendars, I will be signing them, and including a little pencil or ink drawing. I am also charging less for them if you order them by this method. However, in order to get a signed calendar with a drawing, you must contact me directly. If you purchase the calendar through DeviantART directly, then they will ship it to you direct from the printing shop, and I will thus not have the opportunity to sign them.

I am offering these calendars for $20, plus $5 shipping. Please send a note or a comment if interested. :)

Happy new year, and enjoy the calendar!

All art within this calendar is © 2007-2008 Brenda Lyons. All paintings were originally painted in watercolor on 9X12 inch illustration board.
