After buying a random 'grab bag' of small cabochon gems for masks, I wanted to try using them for paintings as well. I'm sure incorporating real stones into watercolor paintings has been done before, but I've never tried it.
This is a 14X10 mm green agate attached to a 5X7 watercolor painting (the white space around it is another inch or so). I based the painting on the stone, and not the other way around. After choosing the beautiful green stone, I wanted to paint something to compliment it. This gryphon seems content to use it during its daily dawn ritual to wake the forest. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
