This is beautiful! I love how you've incorporated blues and violets into an otherwise fire-themed bird. The crest on the head is also one of my favorite parts. And the feathers, as always, look absolutely splendid; your watercolors are always so lovely.
Thanks! I'm trying to get into more non-traditional color themes, particularly with creatures like phoenixes, who are usually red-orange-yellow. I wanted it to have the feeling of being a bird of fire without having it made of the common fire colors.
Oh yes, the simplest tip I can give you is this: when you're viewing the wings from above (like in this picture), the topmost feather is always CLOSEST to the bird's body, and the rest layer underneath. If you view the wings from below (or from the front), the topmost feather is FARTHEST from the bird's body. When you start drawing your wing, try drawing the 'top' feather first, and the rest of the feathers will fall into place :3
