My first try at painting an angled feather (where the painting is straight but the feather is tilted). I felt the angle of the bird would compliment an angled feather nicely.
This feather is a gift for Alan, who with Mary-Beth founded the
Horizon Wings Raptor Rehabilitation and Education Center. Alan has also taught me a lot about working with the birds, and his sense of humor has always kept things light, especially when I was nervous starting out. He encouraged me when I doubted myself, and I'm glad to know such an awesome person.
Athena is the peregrine falcon at the center, who Alan has worked with and trained very well. She's got a great personality, and always looks to Alan, even when on someone else's glove.
Acrylic on turkey feather, about 17 inches long
I... don't know what to say, other than that. Falcons will always hold a special place in my heart, I have to say...
Great work as usual.
Do you work at the center or volunteer?
