A leather wing pendant commission for =mydigitalmind of a male (yes, male - unusual with the brown!) American Kestrel's wings and tail feather. This pendant is hand-carved and shaped from 7 and 3-oz leather and hand-painted with acrylics. The chain is sterling silver.

These are my favorite birds. How much would it cost for a commission of this necklace (or something like it?)

Leather wing necklaces are $90 plus shipping, and if you're interested, you can purchase them from my Etsy shop - www.etsy.com/listing/126556062… just be sure to specify which species and metal you would like :)

Lovely! The American Kestrel is my favorite small falcon (there was a pair near where I used to live San Jose). This is a very cool necklace, great paint and shaping job.

kestrels are so pretty... i see one every day on the way home from school, occupying his little spot on a telephone pole looking out over a sagebrush field cx

Lucky! They are on the threatened list here in CT since we're losing all our open farmlands :(

Even though it's feathers, the composition reminds me of a butterfly.

For a while I've wanted to commission you for a necklace of this type...seeing this piece has solidified this need. :P Once I get some cash together I am DEFINITELY going to contact you about a pendant. :)

Anyway this is really beautiful. The detail in the feathers is amazing!

I can't get over how beautiful this is!!!! This seriously is what I have been looking for whenever I look at bird-related necklaces. I'm so glad that Jenn was able to introduce us so that I could find your talent. I will be sure to take photos wearing it so that you can see!! :D :D :D

I think using the blue/brown reference was a good choice. Maybe that was a younger male's wings? Either way, I love the color combinations

Aww I'm glad I got to meet you too! (and absorb Pine Siskins). I'm really not sure what that coloration was! It's very possible it was a young male, or maybe a super old one. I know the female kestrel we have at the raptor center is starting to go gray/dull in spots!

I do hope that you got some good photos of those Siskins. They returned the next day, but I haven't seen them since. Last week I had a few, but this week none :(

This was a commission, so this pendant isn't for sale. I do custom work, though, if you're interested. :)
