Question: When you watercolor, do you ever erase any of your sketch and what kind of pencil do you sketch with?

I try to erase all extra lines before I watercolor, since the paint often creates a layer over the graphite that prevents it from being erased. I can erase to a point once I've painted over, but never completely. All shading I keep in place to help me remember what the value will be.

This is beautiful! I love the finished piece <3

I have a question though, how did you paint with the pencil drawing? When I paint over my pencil lines, the watercolors kind of wash it away and blurs everything out and then I can barely see my lines anymore. Is there a special way of keeping the pencil lines intact or is that supposed to happen? Thanks!

What kind of pencil and paper are you using? If your pencil is too waxy (such as colored pencil), the watercolor can't soak through it and thus will wash away from the lines. I painted this on hot press Fabriano 140 lb watercolor paper, and the paint had no trouble soaking in through the pencil. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tips! I use a regular 2B pencil on cold press Strathmore Student 90 lb watercolor paper. Maybe I didn't make the lines dark enough? I tend to draw light lines on the paper so that may be the problem. What kind of pencil would be good, or would any work?

I used an HB and a 6B on this, so it shouldn't be the hardness of the pencil. Light lines shouldn't affect it, either (if anything, a lot of graphite would be more of a problem). It is a mystery, for sure!
